While the traveler is away, the lantern continues to shine. Dragons passing through the Lantern Hall often pause beside it, offering a quiet thought, a wish for safe travels, or a hopeful smile for the day its keeper returns. No words are required. The light itself carries the message.

When the dragon finally comes home, the Returning Lantern is carried to the Hearth, where friends old and new gather to welcome them back. Stories are exchanged, new memories are shared, and another chapter is added to the living history of the Thunder. The lantern is then returned to its place among the others, no brighter than before, yet carrying the quiet weight of another journey completed.

Not every return is measured in distance. Some dragons return after months apart. Others return after difficult seasons of life, finding the courage to step through the Sanctuary's doors once more. The Returning Lantern honors them all equally, for every homecoming is worthy of celebration.
